Uvalde city, county leaders to discuss migrant drop-offs

City leaders will meet Monday to consider an agreement with Southwest Area Regional Transit District to provide transportation from Uvalde to San Antonio for detained immigrants, whom the city and county are referring to as migrant asylum applicants.

Migrants, originally detained for processing after crossing the southern border, are set to be released from the custody of the U.S. Border Patrol into Uvalde as early as Tuesday. Local officials said the count could be 10-25 people per day.
