Rafael Silva Jr.
Rafael “Ralph” Silva Jr., 74, of Uvalde died on Aug. 7, 2019, at Cedar Park Regional Medical Center.
He was born on Aug. 3, 1945, in Uvalde to Margarita (Gonzalez) and Rafael Silva Sr. He was the youngest of four children born to the couple.
Silva worked for Southwestern Bell Telecom for more than 36 years. The family says he was a devoted father, friend, brother, and uncle, as well as the go-to dad in the Westcloud neighborhood of San Antonio. He loved ranch life, hunting, fishing and all things outdoors and was very proud of his plants, trees and farm animals.
He is survived by two sisters, Celia Regalado of San Antonio and Carmela Gonzales; brother, Sixto Silva; and his ex-wife, Lydia Silva, all of Uvalde; three children, David Silva and wife, Mary, of Hawaii, Lisa Kienlen and husband, Steve, of Cedar Park, and Melinda Silva and wife, Kristine, of Austin; seven grandchildren, Brandon Silva and Brian Silva, both of Hawaii, Andrew Kienlen, Olivia Kienlen, and Gabi Kienlen, all of Cedar Park, and Estella Silva and Cash Silva, both of Austin; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and -nephews, and friends.
A visitation was held on Sunday at 3 p.m. and a rosary was recited at 4:30 p.m. at Rushing- Estes- Knowles Mortuary. A funeral mass was held Monday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
