Pedro “Pete” S. Cruz

Pedro “Pete” Cruz, 61, of San Antonio, formerly of Uvalde, died on Jan. 14, 2020, in San Antonio.

A rosary will be recited today at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A mass of Christian burial will be held tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with interment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

He was born on Jan. 31, 1958, in Uvalde to Florencia (Sanchez) and Jesus G. Cruz. 

He is survived by four sisters, Janie Rodriguez and husband, Domingo, and Connie Flores and husband, Raul, all of Uvalde, Rosie Moreno and husband, Felipe, of San Antonio, and Mary Cruz of Nashville, Tennessee; four brothers, Jesse Cruz and wife, Soroya, Armando Cruz and wife, Lupe, and Mike Cruz and wife, Amelia, all of Uvalde, and Joe Cruz of Hobbs, New Mexico; stepbrother Juan Pablo Rodriguez, of Wichita, Kansas; stepmother, Francisca de Cruz of Del Rio; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

Cruz was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Annie Cruz.

Visitation began at 4 p.m. yesterday and a rosary was recited at 7 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Mike Cruz, Armando Cruz, Joe Cruz, Jesse Cruz, Miguel Cruz, Jaime Cruz, Domingo Rodriguez and Ricardo Rodriguez.
