Maria de Jesus Velasquez, 92, of Uvalde died on Feb. 7, 2019, in San Antonio.
She was born on Feb. 21, 1926, in Allende, Coahuila, Mexico, to Maria Trinidad Gonzales and Juan Hernandez.
She married Enrique Velasquez on Jan. 16, 1952, in Uvalde.
Velasquez is survived by two daughters, Mary Isaiz and husband, Antonio, of New Braunfels, and Juanita Gutierrez of Uvalde; son, Enrique Velasquez Jr. and wife, Rosa Laura, of New Braunfels; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Carmen Hernandez de Gonzales; and three brothers, Juan Hernandez, Gustavo Hernandez and Jorge Hernandez.
A rosary was recited on Saturday and again on Sunday at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.
A funeral mass was held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment followed at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Richard Luna Jr., Nathan Luna, Trine Hernandez, Nolberto Gutierrez Jr., Johnathan Zamorano and Brant Hickman.
