Manuel H. Martinez

Manuel H. “Cowboy” Martinez, 60, of Uvalde died on on April, 12, 2018, in Uvalde.

He was born to Jesusa Martinez and Anastacio Gamboa on July 29, 1957, in Mexico.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and son, Manuel Martinez Jr.

Martinez was raised on the Bob Ingram Ranch, where he loved to ride horses. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and was often known as a jokester. The family says he had a passion for music and never met anyone he didn’t befriend. His second love in life was being a commercial truck driver,  and he spent over 20 years on the road.

He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Jeanie Espadas; daughter, Elena Alvarez and husband, Pete; two stepdaughters, Isabell Sevilla and Jackie Espadas; and stepson, Robert Espadas, all of Uvalde; three sisters, Blanca E. Victorino and Andrea Martinez, both of Uvalde, and Lee Ann Perez of Lovington, New Mexico; brother, Rodolfo Rodriguez of Little Rock, Arkansas; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation was held on Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a rosary was recited at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Serenity at Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home, located at 424 Geraldine Street in Uvalde.

A scripture service was held yesterday at 9 a.m., also in the chapel at Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home. Interment  followed at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery.
