Jose Moreno, 91, of Uvalde, died on Feb. 19, 2020, in Uvalde.
A visitation was held on Friday at 9 a.m. A rosary was recited on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and another will be recited again today at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral mass will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with interment following at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Moreno was born on Aug. 17, 1928, in Jackson County, to Fernanda (Estrada) and Brigido Moreno.
He is survived by two daughters, Fernanda Moreno and Carmel Muñoz, both of Uvalde; five sons, Pedro Moreno, David Moreno, Martin Moreno, Jesus Moreno, and Cruz Moreno, all of Uvalde; three sisters, Maria Moreno, Fenia Moreno and Regina Moreno, all of Mathis; five brothers, Theodore Moreno of Uvalde, Lupe Moreno, Tomas Moreno, Juan Moreno, and Carmelio Moreno, all of Corpus Christi; 20 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Santos Moreno; daughter, Juana Moreno; and son, Jose Moreno Jr.
Pallbearers will be James Moreno, Alvino Sotelo, Arly Muñoz, Jesse Moreno, Martin Moreno and Cruz Moreno.
