Amalia G. Gutierrez

Amalia Gonzalez Gutierrez, 96, of Uvalde died on May 14, 2020, at the Methodist Hospital in San Antonio.

Gutierrez was born in Mexico on Feb. 14, 1924, to Maria Del Refugio (Campos) and Rafael Gonzalez.

She is survived by two sons; Manuel Gonzalez Gutierrez and wife, Geneva, of Uvalde, and Rafael Gonzalez Gutierrez and wife, Francisca, of Eagle Pass; two daughters, Rosa Maria Ovalle and husband, Antonio, of Uvalde, and Norma Alicia Ortiz of Mexico; two sisters, Virginia Menchaca of Eagle Pass and Consuelo Parra of Mexico; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by both parents; husband, Santiago Gutierrez; and three sons, Santiago Gonzalez Gutierrez Jr., Francisco Gutierrez and Jorge Alberto Gutierrez.

Visitation took place Sunday and Monday from noon to 9 p.m. with a rosary recitation both days at 7 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home.

A mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with interment following at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Evaristo Uriegas, Manuel Gutierrez Jr., Diego Ovalle, Antonio Ovalle, Efren Alba Ortiz, Julio Cesar Gutierrez and Evaristo Uriegas II, all of Uvalde, Rafael Gutierrez Jr. of Eagle Pass, and Otoniel Gonzalez Ortiz of Mexico.

Honorary pallbearers were Julio Ceser Gutierrez and Evaristo Uriegas II both of Uvalde.
