In honor of Holy Week including Easter Sunday, area churches are planning a wealth of services for the community.
Similarly, the ministerial alliance is hosting a community-wide Easter Sunday worship service at the Uvalde County Fairplex at 7 a.m. on April 21.
Reagan Wells Baptist
On Palm Sunday, April 14, Reagan Wells Baptist Church will be offering service at 10:50 a.m.
For Good Friday on April 19, services will be at 6 p.m. at the cross on the river.
On Easter Sunday, April 21, celebrations include a SONrise service, pancake breakfast, and an Easter egg hunt.
SONrise service will be at 8 a.m. at the cross on the river, with a pancake breakfast following at 9 a.m. in the fellowship hall of the church.
At 10 a.m. the “flowering of the cross” service will be held in the sanctuary, with a resurrection celebration worship service following at 10:50 a.m.
The service will include inspirational music, a dynamic message from God’s word, and a special children’s time with the pastor and his friend, Doug the dog.
A children’s Easter egg hunt will follow.

On April 14, Palm Sunday, St. Philip’s Episcopal Church will hold an 8 a.m. Holy Eucharist service, with a Palm Procession and Holy Eucharist following at 10:30 a.m.
Holy Week services at St. Philips include a
12 p.m. Holy Eucharist in the Chapel on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
For Maundy Thursday, April 18, service will be at 6 p.m., including Holy Eucharist and foot washing.
On Good Friday, April 18, Proper Liturgy at 12 p.m., and at 5 p.m., Stations of the Cross.
Holy Saturday service, April 20, at 10 a.m., Proper Liturgy in the Chapel.
Easter Sunday service will include the Great Vigil of Easter at 6:30 a.m., the “flowering of the cross” at 10 a.m, and the Holy Eucharist at 10:30 a.m.
St. Philip’s Episcopal Church is located at 343 N. Getty St., Uvalde.
On April 14, First United Methodist Church is hosting a blood drive in conjunction with Palm Sunday services from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. sponsored by the children of FUMC.
Also on Palm Sunday, a traditional worship service with communion will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., with contemporary service with communion following at 9:40 a.m. to 10:40 a.m.
A second traditional worship with communion will be held at 11 a.m.
Passover Seder, Lord’s Supper style, will be on Wednesday, April 17 from 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m., in Weston Hall. RSVP is requested.
Maundy Thursday service on April 18 will begin at 8 p.m. until 9 p.m.
April 19, Good Friday worship will be at 8 p.m., with a Tenebrae service – a service of light.
First United Methodist Church will host three services on Easter Sunday, 8:30 a.m., 9:40 a.m., or 11 a.m.
The cross will be flowered, joyous music sung, the Word proclaimed and communion shared.
First United Methodist Church is located at 301 N. High Street, Uvalde.
First Baptist Church
First Baptist Church will hold a Good Friday Service, on April 19 at 6:30 p.m. with music, Lord’s supper, and a message.
Easter Sunday services will begin at 10:30 a.m, and will include a cantata “My Savior, My God,” by the choir, followed by a brief message.
First Baptist Church is located at 220 N. High Street, Uvalde.
On Palm Sunday, Sacred Heart Catholic Church will hold it’s regular services, beginning with a service in Spanish at 7:30 a.m. The church will hold two services in English, at 9:30 a.m. and noon.
A final service in Spanish is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
For Maundy Thursday, a Mass in English is scheduled for 6 p.m.
On Good Friday, April 19, live stations will begin at noon.
Two services in English will be held at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.
For Holy Saturday, April 20, a bilingual service will begin at 8:30 p.m.
Regularly scheduled mass will take place on Easter Sunday, with the exception of the 5:30 p.m. mass.
