Combining volunteering with faith, Helping Out the Town Days is a local community service mission project sponsored by the Uvalde Ministerial Alliance that will run June 24-28.

Currently in its fifth year of production, HOTT Days consists of work projects done at no cost to neighbors in need, including painting, yard work, general cleaning, trash haul off and light construction.

Volunteers will be assigned to work teams composed of painting teams, yard teams and cleanup teams. HOTT Days also has a team that will be ministering in all local nursing homes, and another team that will be hosting vacation Bible school at an apartment complex.

Approximately 250 students and adult volunteers from local churches, as well as some from other cities such as San Antonio and Corpus Christi will gather together for the week to serve people in the community who are disabled, elderly or in need of assistance. Nearly two-thirds of the volunteers are local and 35 percent are out-of-town helpers.

Every evening, the students will hear speakers and worship together at the Uvalde County Fairplex.
