Excitement is mounting in preparation for Sabinal Independent School District’s homecoming festivities, which will take place today through Saturday. Seniors Sarah Alejandro, Julissa Reyes and Gloria Romero will compete for the title of homecoming queen, to be named during halftime of tomorrow’s football game.
Planned events include a community-wide pep rally and bonfire today, beginning at 7 p.m. at Sabinal High School; a game-day pep rally in the school gym tomorrow at 3:15 p.m.; a home game against the Charlotte Trojans with kickoff at 7:30 p.m.; and a homecoming parade Saturday at 10 a.m.
The homecoming queen will be crowned at halftime of the game against the Trojans. Admission to the game is $5 for adults and $2 for children.
The theme for the homecoming parade this year is “Viva Fiesta!”
Events for alumni are also anticipated. An alumni barbecue luncheon, for $10 a plate, will be held at the high school cafeteria Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
At 2 p.m. the same day, an alumni meeting will be held at the high school gym. Both the luncheon and the meeting afterwards are open to all alumni.
