What was first reported to authorities as a reckless driver ended in a fiery crash at the intersection of Fourth and Main streets early Thursday morning.
The driver, Everett Lorenzo, was pulled from his Mercedes and taken to University Hospital in San Antonio.
Motorists traveling along U.S. Highway 90 began to call in reports of Lorenzo driving recklessly around 4 a.m. in Sabinal and west through Uvalde County. According to the Uvalde County Sheriff’s Office, a vehicle matching Lorenzo’s gold Mercedes is seen on video surveillance striking the front gates of Ag-Pro Equipment, 6585 E. U.S. Highway 90, before attempting to ram through the front doors.
“I looked back at footage and it is the same guy that crashed into the Pronto Insurance sign,” said general manager Cord Mumme. “He rammed through our front gate to enter the property, then drove around our parking lot before he put the front of his vehicle into our front doors.”
