UPD’s Page promoted to sergeant

Veteran officer Donald Page has been promoted to sergeant of operations for the Uvalde Police Department.

The position was previously held by Javier Martinez, who last month was promoted to lieutenant of operations.

Page will now assist Martinez in carrying out office duties including conducting internal investigations of city employees, conducting background investigations and testing of candidates for department employment, coordinating department training, writing and revising department policy, and researching and preparing city ordinances.

According to UPD chief of police Daniel Rodriguez, Page was one of four applicants to submit a letter of interest in the vacant position.

“There was a rigorous interview conducted on June 12. It was very close between all applicants, but Page was selected and will be promoted effective July 1,” Rodriguez said. “Detective Donald Page is very thorough in his investigations. He is going to be a great asset to Lt. Javier Martinez.”
