UHS seeks more tennis success

Team season begins in August

Uvalde High School enjoyed another banner season of success in tennis this past school year.

Coach Terri Rambie’s Coyotes and Lobos captured the District 28-5A team tennis title in the fall and the Uvaldeans finished as the runner-up team in the district in spring tennis.

“Overall, it was a great year for tennis,” said Rambie. “We performed well in the fall by winning district, area, and qualifying for regional competition. In the spring, we ended up as runner-up champs in both boys’ and girls’ tennis.

“Though we lose a lot of players to graduation, we look forward to continuing the winning tradition here in tennis next season,” said Rambie.

Some of the members of the 2018-19 UHS tennis team who were 2019 UHS seniors included Bailey Wimberley, Brenda Garcia, Gabby Rodriguez, Daniela Rodriguez, Lorenzo Perez, Giovanni Valdez, Riley Dalrymple, Francisco Guerra, Michael Guerra, Julian Bermea, and Zach Gonzalez.

“This was a great group of tennis players. We will miss them next season,” said Rambie.
