UHS-grad-turned-Army-private visits school

U.S. Army Private First Class Josh Saiz graduated from Uvalde High School two years ago and opted for military service right after high school, as a means to finance his education and get a start on a career.

He is on his first duty station in Germany and was home on leave for the Christmas holidays. He used part of his time to visit with students at the high school who might want to consider military service upon graduation.

He mentioned that the Army has significant benefits. “Your college can be paid for. You get health insurance. You get free dental, and your family gets life coverage, too. If anything would happen to you, they would be taken care of.”

Boot camp was tough, but not an insurmountable challenge.

“It was probably the hardest thing I had to do. But you just have to keep pushing yourself, mentally and physically, and get it done.
