Eight members of the Uvalde High School Business Professionals of America organization are heading to state competition in March. The students will be competing in a variety of business categories.

They earned their status as state qualifiers by winning awards in the regional meet at Medina Valley.

Senior Ramiro Ramirez led the list of awards at the regional meet, with a first place in fundamental spreadsheet applications. Three others scored second-place awards: Steven Martinez in legal office procedures, Bobby Ruiz in advanced spreadsheet applications, and Jennifer Soliz in medical office procedures.

Third-place awards went to Christin Garcia in banking and finance, Connor Jones in fundamentals of web design, and Thomas Cooper in business law and finance.
