Saturnino “Sart” Perez III is the new head baseball coach at Uvalde High School.
Perez, who has served as an assistant baseball coach for three seasons, has been promoted to replace Ricky Salazar, who recently accepted a coaching position at Floresville.
He was the first assistant coach under Salazar this past season.
“I moved up to the first assistant position when Kameron Arnold left UHS to take a coaching post at Kerrville two years ago,” said Perez. “I am excited about this opportunity.
“Since I am familiar with the kids in our program and I share much of Coach Salazar’s philosophy about baseball, I think the transition should be a smooth one,” said Perez.
“Early on, I just want to continue to do a lot of the things that Coach Salazar has put into place,” said Perez. “Over time, I will likely put my own mark on the program, but for now, we will continue to focus on the many things that have brought this program success over the last few seasons.”
