Fifty-three disc golf throwers turned out for this year’s Mayhem in Memorial disc golf tournament held Saturday at the Uvalde Memorial Disc Golf Course, located at Uvalde Memorial Park, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The event, put on by Uvalde Disc Golf Association, was the second event of its kind to be held in Uvalde.
There were six classes of participants in the Professional Disc Golf Association-sanctioned event: professional open, professional masters, amateur advanced, amateur masters, amateur intermediate, and amateur recreational. For the second year in a row, William Nelson, of Corpus Christi, served as tournament director.
In the professional open division, Austin McNabb of Austin took home $375 in first-place prize money; Travis Guillen of Corpus Christi earned $255 coming in second; and Jordan Knowels from Selma earned $175 for third place.
In the professional masters division, J. Shannon Fosdick of San Antonio earned $340 as first-place winner; Tracey Lee Olsen of New Braunfels took home second, with $215; and Edward Palacios of Austin took home third with $160 in prize money.
