A suspect has been charged with murder and aggravated assault after a shooting early Monday that left one man dead.
Juan Jose Armendariz Jr., 27, who later turned himself in to police, was charged with one count of murder and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Armendariz was employed by the City of Uvalde from Jan. 2, 2014, until he resigned as of April 8, 2016.
The suspect was transported to the Uvalde County Justice Center and booked into the jail.
According to a press release issued by Uvalde Police Department Chief Daniel Rodriguez, on Labor Day, Sept. 2, 2019, at approximately 1:52 a.m. police were investigating a disturbance call at the 100 block of Deleon Alley, when they heard gunshots in the vicinity.
As officers were searching the immediate area, the communications center received a 911 call from a female who stated she was shot and provided her location. Officers located the female victim, along with two male gunshot victims.
