Mudcats win league baseball title

The Mudcats beat the Legends, 7-4, in the Uvalde Little League’s Minor League baseball championship game last Friday night at Kiwanis Field.

Up 2-1, the Mudcats took advantage of two walks, two errors and two wild pitches to score three runs in the third inning.

The Legends rallied for three runs in the fourth inning to cut the Mudcats’ scoring lead to 5-4.

Cody Buegler hit a run-scoring single, while Jordan Albarado and Grant Elliott each drew a walk with the bases loaded.

In the fifth inning, the Mudcats scored a pair of runs to ensure their victory over the Legends.

Adan Rodriguez singled and Ivan Guerrero reached base on a fielder’s choice.

With two runners on base and two outs, Joaquin Garcia tripled to deep center field.

Ahead 7-4, the Mudcats shut out the Legends in the sixth inning to end the ball game.
