Uvalde High School senior Jennifer Soliz is ranked third in her graduating class. Behind the academically successful 18-year-old is her mother, Martha Soliz.

Jennifer, who will be attending Texas State University this fall, is the youngest of four children. Martha’s other children are 26, 25 and 21 years old.

On Thursday, as Jennifer was recognized as the 2019 fine arts scholarship recipient during the Uvalde Good Eggs’ Baubles and Bags luncheon, Martha and husband, Albert, were present to support their youngest daughter.

“They grow up so fast,” Martha noted. “If I could give one piece of advice to younger moms, I would say, ‘Enjoy it.’ It seems like yesterday she was born, and now she is graduating high school and going off to college.”

As for the best advice she received as a young mother, Martha said, “Every child is different. You have to care for them according to their needs.”
