A Sabinal Police Officer witnessed a motorist being swept away by rushing water early Wednesday morning as the former attempted to exit his vehicle at the Shudde Crossing on Ranch Road 187.

Officer Eddie Cruz was dispatched to the area, located about 14 miles south of Sabinal, after the motorist called 911 at approximately 1:50 a.m. The incident is one of two that required assistance of rescue teams this week.

The driver, who as of press time had not been identified, phoned 911 at 2 a.m. The driver was in an Ecolab work vehicle.

“Ecolab is aware of the situation and we are in contact with the local authorities,” said Roman Blahoski, Ecolab director of global communications.
