Lobos seek volleyball improvement

Last volleyball season was tough for the Uvalde Lobos.

The Lobos entered the 2017 campaign with a young, inexperienced varsity team and a new head coach.

With some late changes to the Uvalde High School coaching staff, Russell McElroy did not enter the UHS scene as new head volleyball coach until July.

“We hit the ground running, but it was definitely not a sprint,” said McElroy. “We methodically made our way through tryouts, practices, tournament play and regular-season matches, and district matches.

“As a program, we were laying the foundation, including the fundamentals, so that we could make positive progress toward our goals, while working to limit our short falls and setbacks,” said McElroy.
