Lobos play Lytle in hoops action

UHS girls vie in Kinchlow Tuesday

The Uvalde Lobos will host the Lytle Pirates in non-district basketball competition Tuesday.

Varsity tip-off time in Uvalde High School’s Harvey Kinchlow Gym is set for 6:30 p.m.

Preceding that game will be a 5 p.m. Uvalde-Lytle junior varsity contest, while the freshman teams will do battle in UHS’s Oscar Cruz Gym beginning at 5 p.m.

Coach Lori Wilson’s Pirates are off to a 3-7 start this season.

They have posted wins over Poteet, Marion, and Roma, while their losses have come against La Vernia twice, Devine, Cole, Donna, Pleasanton, and Hondo.

Some of the leading players for Lytle this season include forward Kiara Nixon, a 5-foot-7 senior, and guards Autumn Farias, a 5-foot-5 senior, Kylie Mask, a 5-foot-4 junior, and Adriana Rios, a 5-foot-4 junior.

Nixon scored 18 points in Lytle’s 62-38 win over Marion, while Farias netted 17 points and Mask totaled 10 points.

Fowards Abby Moreno, a 5-foot-8 junior, and Clarissia Ramos, a 5-foot-7 junior, each pulled down seven rebounds in the Marion game.
