La Pryor native Alicia Ramirez in June took over as the Wesley Nurse of the First United Methodist Church in Uvalde.

Ramirez replaces previous Wesley Nurse Lesa Parry, who relocated to be closer to her city of residence.

“The previous Wesley Nurse transferred to another site closer to her home and I transferred here, closer to my home,” Ramirez said. “I had been the Wesley Nurse in Cotulla before Uvalde.”

Ramirez’s office is located at the 301 N. High St. church. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Ramirez’s duties include assisting individuals and communities in achieving improved health and wellness through self-empowerment and access to health care resource information.
