The Uvalde Friends of Hospice Thrift Store hosted a volunteer appreciation luncheon on July 26 for Friends of Hospice volunteers. During the event, volunteers were celebrated for their time and commitment to the thrift store.
Volunteers were treated to lunch at Jack’s Steak House and were presented with hour badges.
Three volunteers received hour badges for completing over 400 hours of service, and one received an hour badge for completing over 300 hours of service. Eleven volunteers received 200-hour service badges, and seven received hour badges for completing over 100 service hours.
Three volunteers received 50-hour service badges.
Linda Hubbard, Wanda Jacobs, Maricela Hernandez, and Ana Rocha were recognized as the top volunteers, contributing a combined total of nearly 2,000 service hours. All volunteers completing at least 50 service hours received prizes donated by Walmart, Evetts BBQ, Cowboy’s Auto Collision, and anonymous donors.
Middle Rio Grande Development Council participants and Friends of Hospice staff also received certificates of recognition.
The volunteers work within the thrift store providing a range of services, including receiving and preparing donations for resale within the thrift shop, assisting customers, and keeping the thrift shop organized and clean.
