Flores raises $21K for queen crown

Unica Flores, 5, daughter of Melissa and Leo “Chato” Flores, was crowned the reigning Cinco de Mayo queen on Saturday at the annual festival put on by American Legion Post 479. The event was held at the Jardin de los Heroes Park on West Main St.

Flores raised $21,052 for the post. Runners-up include Adalyn Treviño, 5, who raised $5,999, and Samantha Zamarripa, 6, who raised $4,521. The girls are allowed to keep 40 percent of what was raised, while the other amount will go to scholarships.
