Downtown art center open for collaboration

Artists with Encina Art Center, located at 114 N. Getty St., are seeking to bring art into the community through an art gallery, studio space and classes.

Costs associated with renting the facility are split among 10 artists including Carol Kothmann, Bea Ybarra, Sandra Hopper, Laura Dabney, Katie Haby, Bob Shackleford, Pam and David Cresswell, Debbie Trees and Dorothy Redland.

The majority of the artists paint, but some offer talent in the fields of pottery, calligraphy, photography and jewelry making.

Carnes said the idea to open the center formed due to the group’s desire to display their work and host art classes.
