Coyotes win hoops season opener

The Uvalde Coyotes were victorious in their first basketball game of the season.

Last Saturday afternoon, the Coyotes defeated the Bandera Bulldogs, 79-46, in Uvalde High School’s Harvey Kinchlow Gym.

Coach Alex Oyola’s Coyotes got off to a 23-13 lead in the first period.

Cristian Treviño scored the first field goal of the season for the Coyotes.

He nailed a three-point field goal 15 seconds into the contest to give the Coyotes a 3-0 lead.

The Coyotes never relinquished their scoring lead.

Using good defense and superior rebounding, the Coyotes methodically built a 10-point advantage by the end of the quarter.

Up by a score of 8-7, the Coyotes outscored the Bulldogs, 15-6, during the last five minutes of the opening period of the ball game.
