Coyotes win baseball series opener

UHS blanks Carroll in bi-district thriller

It was a big night for Uvalde High School senior Roy Resma and his teammates Thursday at Devine High School.

Resma pitched a three-hit shutout and figured in both runs scored by the Uvalde Coyotes, who blanked the Corpus Christi Carroll Tigers, 2-0, in bi-district baseball competition.

With the win, the Coyotes gained a 1-0 lead in their best-of-three playoff series against the Tigers.

The series was scheduled to be completed yesterday afternoon at Corpus Christi.

Playing before a large crowd of mostly Uvalde fans at the Devine High School baseball field, the Coyotes took an early lead.
