Coyotes take on Tivy tomorrow

The Uvalde Coyotes will take on the pre-season district football favorite Kerrville Tivy Antlers tomorrow night.

Action in the District 14-5A Division II game will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Honey Bowl.

With most of their key personnel returning from last year’s district runner-up team in District 26-5A, the Antlers were projected as the team to beat in this year’s District 14-5A Division II football race.

Last season, the Antlers lost a 31-24 decision to the Corpus Christi Calallen Wildcats in the Class 5A Division II Region IV semifinals.

Coach David Jones’ Antlers, 2-0 in district play and 4-1 for the season, lost their 2018 season opener, 48-38, to the Dripping Springs Tigers.

Since that game, the Antlers have won four games in a row, including district victories over Boerne Champion, 30-27, and San Antonio Kennedy, 52-7.
