Tonight at Hondo’s Barry Field, the Uvalde Coyotes will take on the Hondo Owls in a football scrimmage.
Coach R.T. Gonzales’ Coyotes will battle the Owls in varsity action at 6:15 p.m.
Beginning at 5 p.m., the freshman team and the junior varsity team will scrimmage.
“The freshman and junior varsity teams will go at the same time working in opposite directions,” said Gonzales. “They will go 10 plays and switch from offense to defense. If they get inside the 10-yard line, they will get four downs to score,” said Gonzales.
“Both varsity teams will come out and start warming up at around 6 o’clock. Their scrimmage should start at approximately 6:15,” said Gonzales. “The varsity teams will go eight plays with the first group and 12 plays with the second group. We will go one live half. The ball will be blown dead on turnovers. We will have all special teams but will not go live with special teams.”
The Coyotes will enter the Hondo scrimmage tonight following scrimmage action at Del Rio last Saturday morning.
In the scrimmage, the Coyotes won the play section of the event, one touchdown to none, while the Del Rioans won the live quarter of play, two touchdowns to none.
