Coyotes play at Southwest tomorrow

Tomorrow night, the Uvalde Coyotes will play their second consecutive road game and their final pre-district football game of the season when they face the Southwest Dragons.

Kick-off time in Dragon Stadium is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

“For the third week in a row, we will be facing a Class 6A-size school,” said Uvalde High School head football coach R.T. Gonzales.

“We already have played a couple of good football teams in Eagle Pass High and C.C. Winn. But this week we will face our biggest challenge to date,” said Gonzales. “Southwest has a big, quick, talented football team.”

The Dragons return 20 lettermen, including six offensive and six defensive starters from a 2017 team that posted a 9-3 record and went two rounds into the post-season playoffs.

Southwest is a pre-season pick to win their district this season.

Coach Matt Elliott’s Dragons are off to a 1-1 start this season.
