Other Uvaldeans named to the All-District first-team included wide receiver Joshua Sandoval, center Zebediah Holley, tackle Eric De La Rosa, defensive linemen Benito Luna and Alberto Garza, inside linebacker Noah Smith, outside linebacker Chris Embers.

Domingo Davila, who saw action at quarterback, running back, and wide receiver, was picked to the first-team offense as a utility player.

Davila also made the first-team defense as a safety.

Uvalde players picked to the All-District second-team were running back Sotero Martinez, wide receivers Humberto De Leon and Donovan Amaya, guard Matthew Williams, and defensive lineman Majik De La Garza.

Five UHS football players made the honorable mention list, including defensive backs Ryan De La Cruz and Ryan Talavera, linebacker Josiah Carrizales, and offensive linemen Estevan Encinia and Irwin Plata.

“These guys all played a key role in our success this past football season,” said UHS head football coach R.T. Gonzales. “I am proud of these guys and all of the other players on our football team.”

Of the 20 UHS players who made the All-District team, 13 are seniors, including Michael Mata, Joshua Sandoval, Zebediah Holley, Eric De La Rosa, Domingo Davila, Humberto De Leon, Matthew Williams, Benito Luna, Alberto Garza, Noah Smith, Josiah Carrizales, Ryan Talavera, and Estevan Encinia.

Seven of the players picked to the elite team are UHS underclassmen, including juniors Sotero Martinez, Donovan Amaya, Chris Embers, Majik De La Garza, Irwin Plata, and sophomores D’Andre Carroll and Ryan De La Cruz.

“We will graduate a lot of seniors who made the All-District team, but we have a few guys who will return next season,” said Coach Gonzales.
