The United States military will be celebrated tomorrow night in the Honey Bowl as the Uvalde Coyotes play the Eagle Pass Winn Mavericks in their football season home opener.
Kick-off time for the game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
Prior to the game, military veterans and current members will be honored.
The Coyotes will wear special helmet decals that feature one side of the Uvalde U in a field of blue with white stars and the other side of the U with red and white stripes.
“We are pleased to honor all men and women who serve in United States military or who have served,” said Uvalde High School head football coach R.T. Gonzales. “We thank them all for their service to our country.”
Both the Coyotes and the Winn Mavericks enter play tomorrow coming off a victory in their football opener last week.
Coach Eric Villaseñor’s Mavericks shut out the Crystal City Javelinas, 30-0, in their season home opener at Eagle Pass last Friday night.
“Eagle Pass has a good ball club and they are well-coached by Eric Villaseñor and his staff,” said Coach Gonzales. “The Mavericks return a lot of players from their 2018 team that posted a 6-4 season record.
Running back Ethan Casares, a 5-foot-10, 180-pound junior, led the Mavericks on offense against Crystal City last Friday.
