Coyotes lose playoff doubleheader

The Carroll Tigers beat the Uvalde Coyotes in a doubleheader last Saturday to claim Class 5A bi-distrct baseball honors.

Playing at Corpus Christi’s Tuloso-Midway High School Field, the Tigers evened the best-of-three playoff series at one to one as they beat the Coyotes, 4-1, in the first game Saturday.

They then came back to win the second game of the day, 7-5, to claim a two-to-one game advantage in the playoff series.

“We could not get the timely hit Saturday,” said Uvalde High School head baseball coach Ricky Salazar. “We left a lot of base runners on base and you can’t do that against a good team.”
