Coyotes face must-win scenario

Three games remain on the District 14-5A Division II football schedule.

To make the post-season playoffs, the Uvalde Coyotes need to win all three of their games, including the game against the Boerne Champion Chargers tomorrow night.

Kick-off time for the Uvalde-Boerne ball game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the Honey Bowl.

“We have to win our final three football games to make it to the playoffs,” said Uvalde High School head football coach R.T. Gonzales.

“This week, we face the challenge of playing a really good Boerne football team,” said Gonzales. “We already have played three consecutive quality opponents in Heights, Tivy, and Medina Valley. Add Boerne to that list of tough opponents.”

Coach Keith Kaiser’s Chargers, 2-2 in district play and 4-3 for the season overall, suffered a couple of close losses against Kerrville Tivy, 30-27, and Medina Valley, 35-34.

But since that time, the Chargers have posted convincing district wins over Lockhart, 55-23, and San Antonio Kennedy, 55-6.
