Coyotes face Lockhart tomorrow

The Uvalde Coyotes and the Lockhart Lions will be competing against each other in football tomorrow for what could be a post-season playoff berth.

Kick-off time for the contest is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Lions Stadium at Lockhart.

Both the Coyotes and the Lions need a win tomorrow night and a Boerne Champion win over Alamo Heights to claim fourth place in the District 14-5A Division II standings and a spot in the post-season playoffs.

“It’s a big game for both teams. Neither of us were a pre-season pick to make it to the playoffs,” said Uvalde High School head football coach R.T. Gonzales. “But a win tomorrow in our game and a win by Champion over Heights will put the winner of our game into the playoffs.”

Todd Moebes is in his first season as head football coach at Lockhart High School.

Moebes comes to Lockhart following a seven-year stint as head football coach at Abilene Cooper.

He replaces Brian Herman, who left Lockhart to take the head coaching position at Marble Falls.

Coach Moebes’ Lions got off to a quick 2-0 start this season with pre-district wins over Austin Travis, 42-0, and Taylor, 35-0.
