Coyotes begin season tomorrow

Uvaldeans host Eagle Pass Eagles

Tomorrow in the Honey Bowl, the Uvalde Coyotes will open their football season when they host the Eagle Pass Eagles.

Kick-off time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Coach Tom Gonzalez’ Eagles are the defending District 29-6A football champions.

With 33 returning lettermen, including seven offensive and eight defensive starters from last year’s 9-3 football club, the Eagles are picked to vie for top district honors in 29-6A again this football season.

“The Eagles have most of their starting players returning from a team that went two rounds deep into the playoffs last season,” said Uvalde High School head football coach R.T. Gonzales.

“They are ranked among the top teams in the region,” said Gonzales. “The Eagles have size, quickness, experience, and depth, and they are a well-coached team.
