Changes in play at Central Office

Titles are changing at Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District, but the faces are familiar.

On Monday, UCISD trustees approved promoting Central Office administrators Michael Rodriguez and Beth Reavis and vaulting Uvalde High School specialist Kenneth Mueller to Central Office. Each of the three has logged decades of service in the education field.

Rodriguez, who has served as assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction since 2016, has been named deputy superintendent, a position recently vacated by new superintendent Hal Harrell.

Rodriguez, who earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Texas at San Antonio, joined UCISD in 2016, coming from the San Antonio Independent School District. There, he was serving as principal at Sidney Lanier High School.

Rodriguez’s 30-plus years in the education field have included the roles of high school, middle school and elementary school principal, assistant principal, and teacher.
