Batesville School students storm leadership academies

Jennifer Fry

Staff writer

Based on their success in the classroom, their demonstrated leadership abilities, and their involvement in the community, three local Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District students had the opportunity to attend a leadership academy this summer. The students were recommended for the program by their teachers.

Incoming seventh-graders Kaylea Field and Hayzell Vasquez, along with incoming sixth-grader Luis Galindo, were among the participants. All three attended Batesville School during the last school year.

Kaylea is the daughter of Wendy Samarripa and Johnny Field, and granddaughter of Master Chief Cal Lambert.

Hayzell is the daughter of Jessica Vasquez.

Luis is the son of Angela Rios and Christopher Galindo.
