Uvaldeans win in tennis competition

The Uvalde High School tennis team wound up the pre-spring break portion of their spring tennis schedule with action in the UHS spring break tournament on March 6.

Marilyn Torres and Elizaria Hernandez took third place in girls’ doubles.

Joel Zamarripa and Juliana Gutierrez won third place in mixed doubles.

Cruz Gonzalez and Starr Bustamante claimed fourth place in mixed doubles.

Jack Brock placed fifth in boys’ singles.

Enrique Ramirez and Renee Garcia finished in fifth place in boys’ doubles.

Andrew Melchor placed second in boys’ singles.

Beau Gonzalez and Ty Gonzalez won consolation in boys’ doubles.

Crystal Mason and Arlin Morales claimed first in the B draw of girls’ doubles.

Keisha Rodriguez and Ashley Garcia took second in the B draw of doubles.

Jack Brock and Mattie Elder captured fourth place in mixed doubles.

On Feb. 21-22, the Uvaldeans claimed first place in the UHS open varsity tennis tournament.

Andrew Melchor captured third place in the boys’ number one singles draw.

Rene Garcia took third place in the boys’ number three singles competition.

Beau Gonzalez and Ty Gonzalez won first-place honors in the boys’ number one doubles draw.

Simon Alvarez and Gilbert Garza won consolation honors in boys’ number three doubles draw.

Enrique Ramirez and Jacob Flores claimed third place in boys’ number three doubles.

Eliza Hernandez and Marilyn Torres won runner-up honors in girls’ number two doubles.

Alice Chum and Emma Avila finished third in girls’ number three doubles.

Brianna Vasquez and Angel Lopez placed third in number two mixed doubles.
