Uvalde High School tennis players will commence pre-season practice for the 2018 team tennis season tomorrow.
Practice at the UHS Tennis Complex will start at 6:30 a.m. and will run until 7:45 a.m.
An afternoon practice is set for 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Two-a-day practices for Coach Terri Rambie’s Coyotes and Lobos will continue through Thursday.
UHS has won six district team tennis titles in a row.
The Uvaldeans have won district honors in 10 out of the last 11 years.
Coach Rambie returns a lot of players from last year’s District 29-5A championship team.
“It’s a new season with new beginnings. We look forward to the start of things this week,” said Coach Rambie. “Our district will be a little different as the University Interscholastic League added a few new schools to our district, but our district didn’t really change too much. “We are excited to start another season.”
On Friday, Coach Rambie’s team will face their first competition of the season when they take on the Converse Judson Rockets at 9 a.m. at UHS.
The Uvaldeans will host the Lytle Pirates in dual-team play beginning at 1 p.m. Friday.
On Saturday, they are scheduled to host the San Marcos Rattlers and the Hondo Owls in dual-team competition.
The Coyotes and the Lobos will play San Marcos beginning at 9 a.m. and then play Hondo starting at 1 p.m.
