Uvalde soccer teams do battle to raise goods for food pantry

Uvalde High School soccer players will host the annual UHS Holiday Cup soccer match on Dec. 13 in the Honey Bowl.

The match will feature the varsity Coyotes against the varsity Lobos in an exhibition match to raise football for the Uvalde Food Pantry.

Kick-off time for the match is set for 7 p.m., while the gates will open at 6 p.m.

Admission for the soccer event will cost two cans of food per person in attendance.

“This is an opportunity for our players to play the game that they love and to teach our players about community involvement and support,” said UHS boys’ head soccer coach Keith Pendleton. “We hope to collect a lot of canned food for the food pantry here in Uvalde.”

Coach Pendleton’s Coyotes will kick off their 2018 soccer season with a scrimmage against the Del Rio Rams on Jan. 2 at Del Rio.
