The Uvalde High School tennis team will be back in action Wednesday when they host a dual-team meet against the Medina Valley Panthers.
Action in the dual-team tennis match will get going at 4:30 p.m. at the UHS Tennis Complex.
Coach Terri Rambie’s Coyotes and Lobos, 6-3 for the season, finished seventh in the San Antonio Northside ISD Invitational team tennis tournament conducted last weekend.
After beating the San Antonio Marshall Rams, 10-5, in the first round, the Uvaldeans lost to the San Antonio Health Career Phoenix, 10-0.
They then lost a 10-2 decision against the Klein Bearkats in their final tournament match.
In action against Marshall, singles winners were Andrew Melchor, Beau Gonzales, Jacob Sendejo, Miguel Morales, Bailey Towne and Bailey Wimberly.
Doubles winners were the teams of Jeffrey Hopper and Jacob Sendejo, Andrew Melchor and Beau Gonzales, Bailey Towne and Bailey Wimberly, and Natalie Coleman and Karissa Rangel.
The teams of Miguel Morales and Bryson Catlett, Daniela Rodriguez and Leigha Perez, and Rene Alvarado and Kayla Balbuena lost in split sets against their Marshall opponents.
Daniela Rodriguez and Natalie Coleman were ahead in their singles matches when the team match was halted.
In the team match against Health Careers, Matt Fernandez lost a split-set match in number-one singles.
UHS’s two wins against Klein came on a doubles win by Andrew Melchor and Beau Gonzales, and a singles match win by Karissa Rangel.
On Sept. 9, the Uvaldeans will host Laredo United and Eagle Pass Winn for dual-match action at the UHS Tennis Complex.
