Uvalde girls wrap up volleyball campaign

The Uvalde Lobos lost their season volleyball finale Tuesday night.

They dropped a 25-8, 25-14, and 25-11 decision to the Southside Lady Cardinals in District 29-5A action in Uvalde High School’s Harvey Kinchlow Gym.

Behind the hitting of senior outside hitter Mia Soto, the Lady Cards got off to a strong start as they took an 8-1 lead in the opening game of the match.

Soto scored three of the first eight points for Southside. One of her shots was a kill.

Shyann Dockall hit for a couple of Uvalde points to cut the deficit to 11-3.

Later in the game, Nadia Gonzales and Morgan Kenney posted a point for the Lobos.

Led by the hitting of Mia Soto, the Southside girls outscored the Lobos, 9-1, down the stretch to post a 25-8 win in game one.

Kayla Curtis recorded a kill early in game two to cut Southside’s scoring lead to 6-3.
