The Uvalde Lobos placed fifth in the team standings of the varsity girls’ large schools division of the Southwest Texas Junior College Invitational cross-country meet last Saturday.
In a close battle for third place, the Lobos totaled 99 points to finish three points behind third place Laredo United with 96 points and two points behind fourth place Laredo United South with 97 points.
Laredo Alexander and Del Rio both totaled 58 points, but Alexander’s fifth runner placed higher than Del Rio’s fifth runner in the battle for first place.
Kayden Carrasco took ninth place in the individual competition. Her time was 21:09.30.
Chelsy Moreno also placed among the top 20 individual finishers. Her time of 22:02.20 put her in 18th place.
