Tomorrow night at Castroville, the Uvalde Lobos will begin District 28-5A competition when they go up against the Medina Valley Panthers.
Kick-off time for the varsity match is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
Preceding the varsity match will be a junior varsity match set to begin at 5 p.m.
“Because we now compete in a district that includes eight other high schools, there is not much time to prepare for district,” said Uvalde High School girls’ head soccer coach Keith Pendleton.
“We did not get the amount of pre-district matches that we would normally get. As a result, we do still have some things to work out moving forward,” said Pendleton. “But these girls have a good soccer I.Q. And with their willingness to be coached, I believe we will work these things out in short order.
“We enter district play with a relatively young team, including three sophomores and one freshman in our starting lineup, but we also have some experience out there with four seniors and three juniors,” said Pendleton. “Overall, I expect us to compete at a high level.
