UHS gains two new athletic trainers

Two new athletic trainers are on the scene for the 2017-2018 school year. Sara Aviles and Erika Soto are replacing Dan Severtson, who resigned midway through the 2016-2017 school year.

Aviles was born and raised in Uvalde and graduated from Uvalde High School.

She attained her Associate of Arts degree from Southwest Texas Junior College and then pursued her education at Texas Healing Arts Institute in Austin. There she obtained her license in massage therapy.

After finishing school in Austin she moved to Corpus Christi in pursuit of a Bachelor of Science in athletic training.

“During my time at Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi I gained valuable experience working with Division I athletes while I was there,” she said. “I am a BOC [Board of Certification] certified and state licensed athletic trainer.”

Aviles comes home after working for a year as an assistant trainer at Alice Independent School District.
