UBC fishermen team up to win UBC tourney

The teams of Jon Jones and Pete Saucedo, and Howard Ponish and Pete Treviño were the winners of the Uvalde Bass Club’s October tournament.

Jones and Saucedo placed first in the competition at Falcon Lake on Oct. 12.

Their combined catch of five fish totaled 13.86 pounds.

Saucedo caught two fish at a weight of 5.11 pounds and Jones netted three fish at a weight of 8.75 pounds.

James Best, who caught the big bass of the day, a 7.44-pounder, teamed with Mark Leinweber to place second overall.

Their four fish totaled 13.67 pounds.

Best caught two fish at a total weight of 10.25 pounds, while Leinweber’s two fish totaled 3.42 pounds.

On Oct. 13, Ponish and Treviño claimed first-place with a total catch of four fish for 21.11 pounds.

Treviño netted the big bass of the day. He hooked a 7.26-pounder.

Ponish caught three fish that had a total weight of 13.85 pounds.
