Time runs out on former Coyote coach

Former Uvalde Coyote assistant football coach and head track coach, Frank Treviño died back on March 8, 2018, at his home in Richmond. Francisco G. “Sonny” Treviño was 77 years old.

Time waits for no one, but Treviño made the most of the time allotted from the day he was born in Pearsall.

Sonny, as he was well known by family and close friends, served the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District from 1978 through 1981 as an assistant football coach and head track coach.

He returned to UCISD in 1986, assuming the position of assistant superintendent, in charge of maintenance and operations plus transportation.

Treviño excelled in athletics at Pearsall High. He quarterbacked the Mavericks to the 1958 Class 2A quarterfinals.
